Sports Personalities of Nagaland:
Nagaland has produced some of the best sportsmen in the country. The names of Dr T Ao (first Naga Olympian) and Chekrovolu Swuro (international archer) shine in the sports arena of Nagaland and the nation as well. Dr T. Ao was a physician and a footballer too. Wrestling
The most popular indigenous sport of Nagaland is wrestling. In this indigenous form of sport the sportsmen hold each others waist girdles. After the signal is given both the sportsmen try to throw off the fellow sportsmen. And thus one is declared the winner if he can throw off his opponent. Naga wrestling is popular with the Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Rengma and Mao tribes. Each alternate year a sport competition is held and the sport has achieved the status of All Naga Sports.
Cock Fighting:
Cock Fighting is another important sport of Nagaland. The sport is quite similar with Tae-Kwan-Do. The game is popular with the Sema tribes and it requires much strength, speed and agility.
Angling
Angling or fishing is a wonderful sport in Nagaland. The Dhansiri river, Doyang river, Milak river and other rivers of Nagaland offer one with the opportunity of the sport of angling.
Camping
The virgin forest of Satoi range offers camping. Sports enthusiasts can go for camping in the forests of Satoi range. One can also opt for Dzukou valley and Governor's camp which are ideal spots for camping.Trekking
The many hills and terrains of Nagaland are the ultimate destination for trekking. Dzukou valley, Saramati peak in Tuensang district, Japfu peak in Kohima , Mount Tiyi, Patkai hills, Satoi range and many others welcome the sports lovers for trekking.Other indigenous sports of Nagaland are pole climbing, fire-making, meat kicking.

The Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sports Association (NAMSA) is an exclusive state adventure motor sporting authority of Nagaland. It was formed in 2001. Nagaland Premier League:
Nagaland Premier League (NPL) is the top division football league in Nagaland. The aim of the league is to promote football in Nagaland. It is the top class league game in the entire state. There are 10 clubs which participate in the league matches which compete against each other to get the maximum goals and score and finally emerge the winner.
