Nagaland Political Information

Like all other states of India the state of Nagaland is headed by a Governor whose role is largely ceremonial.

The Chief Minister along with a council of other ministers forms the government executive. Unlike most Indian states, Nagaland has been granted a great degree of state autonomy, as well as special powers and autonomy for Naga tribes to conduct their own affairs. Each tribe has a set of councils - at the village, range and tribal levels dealing with local disputes.

The seat of High Court is in Guwahati (Assam) and a bench is located at Kohima.
